~Prologue~

Angel would like to say he was a good man, but he can't. He'd like to say a lot of things about himself actually, that he was honest and selfless, but again, he can't.

Before Hell, the vampire had fooled himself into believing that he wasn't anything like his soulless counterpart. That the dark desires Angelus had thrived on were not his own.He used to believe that he enjoyed helping others and loved the slayer, but he can't do that anymore. A few hundred years of torture will do that to a person. Force you to focus on something, anything, in the hopes that you can maintain at least some sense of sanity. For Angel it was himself, himself and his life.

The vampire had learned quickly that that kind of introspective thinking could lead to an almost painful amount of self-discovery. He'd come to realise during the time that he had spent in Hell that he was sick and tired of feeling ashamed for being what he was. Sick of the guilt that had plagued him since he'd been cursed with the soul so many years ago. Once the he'd returned from that fiery prison and reclaimed some hold of his mind, the demon known as Angel had decided to make some decisions regarding the direction his unlife would take.

No longer would humanity exist on a pedestal. No longer would he believe that humans were so much better than demons, than him. His mind was definately clear on that subject. After all, hadn't his once precious humans committed acts that even his own race would be proud to have claimed doing.

Angel knew first hand the type of darkness that could reside in the human soul. Indeed, hadn't the young Liam thrived upon his baser instincts. Taking what he wanted, when he wanted it, and being all the more happy for satisfying those whims.

Though the demon Angelus had perverted that twist in his personality into something altogether inhuman, the satisfaction was ever present. Unfortunately for the dark vampire, that was a feeling he could not remember having ever experienced personally.

Though he would never have admitted it at the time, being with Buffy had been more about seeking redemption and pissing off the demon than about him ever truly loving the girl. And now, after seeing the slayer through both Angelus's eyes and the torments of Hell, Angel understood one thing about his feelings towards the blonde...

He hated her. Hated that he had acted like a lovestruck puppy whenever he was in her presence. Hated that she had overlooked his very nature to suit her ideals of the perfect life. Worst of all, he hated her for her weakness. She had allowed his demon to gleefully partake in the destruction of her and her friends' lives all because of her unwillingness to completely lose her boyfriend. Even turning her back on those friends and her destiny because of a teenaged tantrum.

Fortunately the blonde hadn't realised that he was loathe to be in her company, preferring to believe that it was a sense of guilt over his time as Angelus that had dulled his enthusiasm for her. At times, Angel wanted to laugh at that. Oh no, guilt certainly wasn't the emotion that affected him whenever he thought over those months; rather it was sadness. He was most unhappy that it had not been him, the soul, that had caused the slayer such delicious pain. He was certain that torturing the blonde would go a long way to satisfying the darker and baser qualities of his soul.

Speaking of satisfaction, he could think of one other that would be able to fulfil his needs. Willow. Yes, the innocent hacker had haunted him since she had returned his soul, longer if he considered how his demon had felt about the girl.

It was almost laughable, the idea that such a small and frail form could contain the power to curse him. He would've been inclined to believe it was some kind of fluke if his memories of those times he had actually been in close proximity to the girl had been different.

He remembered when he had rescued the little red head from the boiler room over a year ago, that some part of him had quivered at her touch. Then later as his soulless self, Angel could remember his entire being awakening to what lay mostly dormant inside her. If only the meddling slayer hadn't shown up. Willow would have been his. His to give pleasure and his to cause pain.

Then again, if his soulless self had taken her then he would not be looking at the prospect of taking her now. A pleasurable thought indeed. His little tree had blossomed in the months he had been absent. So much more beautiful, so much more powerful, and yet still so enticingly innocent; and didn't he just love innocence. Yes, he was going to enjoy twisting his Willow into the perfect mate, strong, deadly, (a little insane perhaps), and completely devoted to him. She would be his ultimate creation, and he couldn't wait to get started

~Part: 1~

Today was going to be a good day, of that Angel was sure. Oh, he was no seer, not like his lovely childe, but on this subject at least, the vampire was sure of the outcome.

He was on his way to the library. A new demon had appeared in Sunnyhell and the Scooby gang had called a meeting to research the threat. Not exactly something to get excited about Angel knew, but then again i wasn't really the meeting that had the blood in his veins thrumming so deliciously. No, it was something far more exciting. Something that caused the souled demon to subconsciously quicken his pace. For you see, Angel had decided that that night was the perfect time to begin the process of creating his Willow.

Before Hell, the dark vampire had despised his place in the group. Always on the outside looking in. Now though, well, now Angel was genuinely grateful for the position, having already exploited it to the best of his abilities. Knowledge was power, and even as a human, Angel had loved being powerful. Indeed, the brunette had used his status to study the Scoobies, learn their habits. He was rather interested to note the changes that had occurred since his soulless self had last studied them. Angel was happy to admit that he now knew exactly how each member related to his future mate. Knew which cords to cut and what steps to take to make the redhead perfect.

The only problem was that many of the methods Angel normally would have used on his girl would give him away. Let his opponents know ahead of schedule that he was the cause of their agony. Although, thinking about it, the vampire was kind of glad about that. He knew that this would be his most challenging undertaking yet, and was thrilled with the possibility of upping his game. It had been a long time since the vampire had been able to flex his skills, and damn if he wasn't looking forward to it.

So here he was, walking through he halls of Sunnydale High trying to calm his raging excitement. Kind of a hard thing to do when all he wanted was to giggle like a Schoolgirl, but hey, the ends did justify the means. So with the library doors in sight the vampire quickly schooled his features into the all too familiar brooding expression. With a final calming, although unnecessary breath, the vampire opened the doors and stepped over the threshold.
